<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a multibeam imaging apparatus that since a plurality of pattern generating circuits are required for each laser and switching of pattern is required depending on the line position at the upper end of dots in order to add a dot pattern consisting of a plurality of dots, the circuitry is complicated. <P>SOLUTION: In order to add a dot pattern indicating specified information by the positional relation of a plurality of dots in an area of specified size to an image, a specified pattern consisting of a plurality of pixels constituting a dot is formed by each of a plurality of imaging means and added to image data. Intervals L1-L6 of a plurality of dots in the subscanning direction in that area are set in the vicinity of a specified interval Lg, and that pattern is formed based on the set dot interval. The intervals L1-L6 are set equal to the number of main scanning lines which is equal to an integer times of the number of imaging means or set equal to a fixed interval Lg and the position for forming a dot is altered depending on the main scanning line position where formation of a dot is started. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
