PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device for an endoscope providing optimal brightness and light distribution according to types of light guides. SOLUTION: This light source device is provided with a mask part 32 appropriately restricting the brightness and the light distribution while irradiation light in the light source device 3 is incident on the light guide 25 via an optical system, when a different-shape light guide connector 8 is inserted in the light source device 3.
