PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the shearing modulus of a region of interest of an organism even in the presence of other force sources or an uncontrollable force source in a measured object. SOLUTION: This shearing modulus measuring device is provided with a storage means 2 storing distorted tensor field data measured on a region of interest 7 set to the measured object, and a shearing elastic modulus computing means 1 for computing the shearing modulus of an optional point in the region of interest on the basis of the distorted tensor field data. The shearing modulus computing means computes the shearing modulus of the region of interest, regarding all force sources as positioned outside the region of interest by obtaining the shearing modulus by a numerical analysis on the basis of a first- level partial differential equation indicating the relation between the distorted tensor field and the shearing modulus, that is, by measuring the shearing modulus only on the region of interest as an object. A value preset by measurement or the like is used as Poisson's ratio required for operation, and a reference shearing modulus is used as the initial condition of solving the partial differential equation.
