PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite material containing an organic polymer as a substrate material and useful as a biologically compatible material, a filter medium or the like using a compound forming method due to solution immersion hard to receive the effect of the substrate material. SOLUTION: The composite material is obtained by immersing the organic polymer substrate material containing a cation component capable of being eluted into water in an aqueous solution containing an anion component capable of forming an insoluble compound along with the cation component, or immersing the organic polymer substrate material in an aqueous solution containing the anion component and the cation component to form the compound layer containing the cation and anion components on the organic polymer substrate material.
