CATALYST FOR REDUCING AMOUNT OF NITROGEN OXIDE IN EXHAUST GAS FROM DILUTE MIXED GAS COMBUSTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst having improved heat stability, a wider temperature window and a high nitrogen oxide conversion rate.

SOLUTION: This catalyst has a function for reducing the amount of nitrogen oxide in the exhaust gas from a dilute mixed gas combustion engine and contains at least one nitrogen oxide storage material prepared by combining at least one platinum group noble metal with a uniform Mg/Al mixed oxide of magnesium oxide and aluminum oxide. Herein, magnesium oxide is present in a concentration of about 1-about 40 wt.% on the basis of the total amount of the Mg/Al mixed oxide.
