<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas treatment material having the deodorizing capacity of an offensive smell component and the antibacterial capacity to microorganisms in a composite catalyst wherein a platinum group element is supported on photocatalytic titanium oxide, having a high removing speed of CO being a harmful gas component, capable of keeping a good CO removing capacity under a medium-high humidity atmosphere and having a high CO removing capacity even in a case coating or impregnating an object with the gas treatment material, and a method for manufacturing the gas treatment material. <P>SOLUTION: The gas treatment material comprises a composition composed of the composite catalyst (A) wherein the platinum group element (a<SB>2</SB>) is supported on photocatalytic titanium oxide (a<SB>1</SB>), a silica ceramic component (B) and preferably an alumina ceramic component (C). It is desirable that an acidic dispersion of colloidal silica is used as the source of the silica ceramic component (B) and an alumina sol is used as the source of the ceramic component (C). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
