<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organohalogen decomposition catalyst capable of highly decomposing an organohalogen compound even within a low temperature region of 250°C or lower and having no possibility of the re-synthesis of the organohalogen compound such as dioxins or brominated dioxins, and a method for manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: Pt and/or Pd is supported on an anatase type TiO<SB>2</SB>powder to obtain the organohalogen decomposition catalyst set to 0.1 wt.% or less in carbon content. The surface of a ceramic base material may be coated with the anatase type TiO<SB>2</SB>powder and Pt and/or Pd. The activity of the organohalogen decomposition catalyst is generated by performing the heating in an oxidizing atmosphere in place of reduction using organic matter without using a raw material containing organic matter to set the content of carbon to 0.1 wt.% or less and the re-synthesis of the organohalogen compound such as dioxins or brominated dioxins is prevented. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
