PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a good image by forming a good electric field between a recording head and an intermediate electrode thereby ensuring stabilized flight of a charged substance. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus for forming an image by flying a charged substance ejected from the ejecting section 11 of a recording head by applying an external force to the recording head 1 disposed oppositely to a recording medium 5 comprises an ejecting section electrode 2 disposed in the vicinity of the ejecting section of the recording head disposed oppositely to the recording medium, an intermediate electrode 3 interposed between the recording head and the recording medium, an auxiliary electrode 6 interposed between the recording head and the intermediate electrode, and means for applying a specified voltage, respectively, to the ejecting section electrode, the intermediate electrode and the auxiliary electrode.
