PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metallic core wire and its production method with which deposited speed can be improved by 15-20% and simultaneously, a welding electrode running speed can be improved by 45-50%. SOLUTION: This welding wire has the peculiarity, in which the metallic core composed of powdery metal is included in a sheath and a filling ratio of this metallic core is larger that about 12% and this metallic core has a core composition adding one kind of alloy element or a plurality of alloy elements combining Cr, Mo, V, W, Hf and Nb, or while having the plurality of alloy elements combining these alloy elements, the total mass% of the alloy elements in the core composition is≤about 1%.
