<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new promoter functioning in a plant, its variant, a gene expression vector for a plant using the promoter, and a plant transformed by using the gene expression vector. <P>SOLUTION: Four DNA domains (two DNA promoter domains of S3-RNase and promoter domains of S4- and S6-RNases) containing a promoter domain of self-incompatibility-associated gene of Prunus tomentosa are isolated from Prunus tomentosa and their structures are analyzed. The promoter is represented by a certain specific sequence. Further, the variant of the promoter of the self-incompatibility-associated gene, the gene expression vector for the plant using the promoter and the plant transformed using the gene expression vector are obtained. The promoter is especially suitable as a promoter for specifically expressing a floral organ, partially a pistil in a flower bud stage from a young bud to a flowering stage. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
