PURPOSE: A device and a method for processing input signals of an image display device having a set-top box are provided to select an external input signal freely regardless of the signal input status from the set-top box, thereby maximizing the convenience of the use of the image display device. CONSTITUTION: A method for processing input signals of an image display device having a set-top box includes the steps of checking whether signals are input from external input terminals of the set-top box or the image display device(304,308), processing and outputting the signal input from the set-top box prior to the others, checking whether a request for selecting, processing and outputting a signal input from one of a plurality of the external input terminals of the set-top box or the image display device is input by a user in the process of the signal output(314), and processing and outputting the signal selected by the user(318).
