PURPOSE: A method for providing position information of a mobile communication terminal using a GPS(Global Positioning System) is provided to transmit accurate position information to a mobile terminal by obtaining a position value except for a pseudo-range value with a severe pollution level by an LDA(Location Determining Algorithm). CONSTITUTION: An LDA receives plural pseudo-range values from a terminal(101). The LDA calculates a position of the terminal by using the plural pseudo-range values(103). The LDA calculates a cost function for an error factor by satellites corresponding to the plural pseudo-range values(105). The LDA compares the cost function value with a threshold value(107). If the cost function value is greater than the threshold value, the LDA takes the number of excluded pseudo-range value as 1 and removes a pseudo-range value in a Round-Robin system, and calculates position values by using the remaining pseudo-range values(109). The LDA calculates cost functions corresponding to each position value, and selects a minimum cost function(111). The LDA compares the minimum cost function and a threshold value(113). If the minimum cost function is smaller than the threshold value, the LDA transmits information on a position value corresponding to the minimum cost function to the terminal(115).
