PURPOSE: A digital television and a searching method thereof are provided to store video data after embedding watermark and searching the data via the watermark. CONSTITUTION: A digital television includes a tuner(10) for receiving external broadcasting signals, a channel decoder(11) for decoding broadcasting signals of a channel selected by a user, a signal separating part(12) for separating the decoded broadcasting signals into video and audio data, an image processing part(13) for processing the separated video data to display via an image output part(14), an audio processing part(15) for processing the separated audio data to realize via an audio output part(16), a watermark encoder(20) for embedding watermark to the video data of the decoded broadcasting signals, a watermark decoder(30) for separating the embedded watermark from the video data, and a control part(41) for storing the video data in which the watermark is embedded into a memory(40) or outputting the video data by separating the watermark from the stored video data.
