<p>PURPOSE: A display system having a screen blocking function and a method for controlling the same are provided to protect young boys and girls from undesirable video information at improper time. CONSTITUTION: If a display system which displays a video signal from a computer main body is operated normally(S50), a monitor control unit receives the current time information from a timer, compares the current time with a screen blocking time stored in a memory, and determines whether the current time is possessed in the screen blocking time(S52). If the current time is possessed in the screen blocking time, the monitor control unit controls an OSD IC for generating an OSD for blocking a screen(S54). If a user wants to release a screen blocking function, the monitor control unit displays a release code input window and requests an input of a password(S56). If a release password inputted on the release code input window is the correct password(S58), the monitor control unit removes the OSD for blocking a screen by controlling the OSD IC, thus a screen blocking function is released for a predetermined time(S60).</p> |
