<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a field sequential type color liquid crystal display which is a semi-transmission and semi-reflection type. <P>SOLUTION: The semi-transmission type and semi-reflection type color liquid crystal display 10 comprises a liquid crystal cell 12 which is controlled by a field sequential system and a semi-transmission and semi-reflection device 14 which is arranged in the rear of the liquid crystal cell 12 and the semi- transmission and semi-reflection device 14 has a beltlike semi-transmission and semi-reflection film 18, each of which is formed of a transmission region and a reflection region and where color regions 18R, 18G, and 18B transmitting and reflecting lights of three colors R, G, and B are formed, and a light source 30 inside it. This semi-transmission and semi-reflection film 18 is driven by a driving device 20 and the color regions 18R, 18G, and 18B are moved to the back of the liquid crystal cell 12 in order, so that the light transmissivity of the liquid crystal cell 12 is controlled in the order of the colors of the color regions synchronously with the colors. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
