PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structurally simple hinge for selective opening to the right or left. SOLUTION: In each of the upper and lower hinges 4, right and left pivots 8 are provide in a pivot-side member 5; and right and left pivoting spaces 20 (21) and right and left spaces 22 (23) for guiding entrance/exit are formed in a bearing-side member 6. When one of right and left sides of a door 3 is opened/ closed, the pivot 8 is taken in/out from the pivoting space 21 (or 20) via the space 23 (or 22) on one side while the pivot 8 is pivotally supported in an openable/closable manner by being taken into the pivoting space 20 (or 20) on the other side. In the hinge 4, a lock means 16 is provided between the members 5 and 6. In a neutral state in which the pivot 8 is not taken into the spaces 20 (21) on right and left sides, the hinges 4 are put into an engaged state for inhibiting the movement of the door 3 to this side; and in an openable state in which the corresponding pivot 8 is taken into the pivoting space 20 (or 21) on either of the right and left sides, the hinges 4 are put into a non- engaged state for preventing the inhibition of the movement of the door 3 in an opening/closing direction.
