<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method and an image forming apparatus by which image forming with stable image density is maintained over a long term by obtaining the optimum density of a patch for control regardless of the sensitivity change of an image forming body or the responsiveness of writing light by an exposure means. <P>SOLUTION: By using the patch for control consisting of a dither pattern, an error diffusion pattern or a laser pulse width modulation pattern and fetching information on the sensitivity of the image forming body and the responsiveness of the writing light, a threshold to be used for arithmetic operation for deriving the density of the patch for control is changed and an image forming condition is controlled based on a density detection signal after developing the patch for control having the derived density in the image forming method and the image forming apparatus. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
