PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliable, low-cost fluorometer/phosphoroscope that reduces noise in the fluorometer/phosphoscope, reduces background noise due to the apparatus or a sample container, and hence increases an S/N ratio in measurement, and improves the minimum detection sensitivity in the apparatus. SOLUTION: When the analysis measurement of a sample is to be made in the fluorometer or the phosphoroscope, both of the light path to the sample of excitation light that is generated from a light source and the light path to the detection section of fluorescence or phosphorescence that is generated from the sample are shielded by one chopper.
