摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection plate provided with a cholesteric liquid crystal, which prevents or suppresses deterioration in light reflection efficiency of color light in a short wavelength region and exhibits a high utilization factor of the light in a wide wavelength region. <P>SOLUTION: The reflection plate 1 is constructed by forming a reflection layer 18 consisting of a plurality of cholesteric liquid crystal layers on a lower substrate 13. A cholesteric liquid crystal layer 18B with a short helical pitch is formed in a position closer to the incident side of light utilized for reflection than to that of a cholesteric liquid crystal layer 18R with a long helical pitch. Consequently reflection of the color light in the short wavelength region caused by a helical structure is produced in preference to absorption of the color light in the short wavelength region by liquid crystal molecules and in particular the light reflection efficiency with the color light in the short wavelength region is enhanced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
