PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cross type MI element capable of acquiring an MI characteristic having as high accuracy as possible by setting axes of easy magnetization of first and second magnetic bodies at an accurate crossing angle, and having the undispersed MI characteristic. SOLUTION: The first magnetic body 52 is formed by deposition on the surface of a substrate 51, and the second magnetic body 53 is formed by deposition on the surface of the first magnetic body 52 by using magnetic material capable of setting the axis of easy magnetization Jm<SB>2</SB>at a lower temperature than the Curie temperature of the first magnetic body 52. After setting the axis of easy magnetization Jm<SB>1</SB>of the first magnetic body 52 at the deposition time, the axis of easy magnetization Jm<SB>2</SB>of the second magnetic body 53 is set by annealing, while applying a magnetic field at the lower temperature than the Curie temperature of the first magnetic body 52. This element is constituted so that the crossing angle between the axes of easy magnetization Jm<SB>1</SB>, Jm<SB>2</SB>is set at a prescribed angle. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
