<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the contrast characteristics of a liquid crystal panel. <P>SOLUTION: In the color separating/synthesizing circuit of the projection display device, an optical means is constituted of a pair of composite lenses, and wherein several convex lenses are formed on opposing surfaces so as to face each other, and an eccentric lens having a prescribed eccentricity is used as a part of or all of the pair of composite lenses, alternatively, an eccentric lens having a prescribed eccentricity is used as a convex lens constituting a luminous flux superposing means for superposing the luminous flux guided by the optical means after being emitted from the light source. Thereby, the luminous flux emitted from the light source is transmitted through the convex lens, then, a prescribed angle can be obtained as the incident angle of the optical axis of the luminous flux guided to the liquid crystal panel. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
