PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorbing structure of a radioactive substance storage vessel capable of improving shock absorbing capacity by restraining its height H. SOLUTION: This shock absorbing structure between a concrete cask and a canister is arranged between the canister for housing a radioactive substance and the concrete cask for supporting a bottom surface by putting the canister in a housing space from an upper opening, and stored by putting a lid on the upper opening, and absorbs impact energy at falling time of the canister. A support member for receiving an impact load is composed of a plurality of plate materials 30 erected from a bottom surface 21a of the housing space 21, and an inclinationθis imparted to the plate materials 30.
