PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk unit for enhancing the resistance to both a detect of decentering and face deflection and a defect of flaws of an optical disk. SOLUTION: A pulse count means 61 numbers each of pulse counts, virtually divides the optical disk 1 into sectorial areas (T1) to (Tn) in cross-reference with the count numbers, and an operation control switching means 62 of a system controller 6 switches operating settings of an optical pickup 4 onto areas where defects exist as its control.
