PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing seal for minimizing the entry of abrasive particles between bearing surfaces to substantially prevent the wear of a sealing surface during the operation of a bearing. SOLUTION: A seal assembly for a shaft supporting a rotating element has a sealing ring having an inner periphery face which has contact with the sealing surface of the shaft. The sealing ring has a disc radial lip normally integrated with the inner periphery face. A disc seal shield is assembled so that it has sealing contact with a first face of the integrated disc radial lip and also has sealing contact with the first peripheral face of a circular seal groove. An energizer arranged in the circular seal groove has contact with the bottom face and the second periphery face of the groove. The energizer gives radial force onto the outer periphery face of the sealing ring and gives lateral force onto the integrated radial lip of the sealing ring. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
