Multi-oligosaccharide glycoconjugate bacterial meningitis vaccines

A multivalent immunogenic molecule includes a carrier molecule containing at least one functional T-cell epitope and including a multiple antigen peptide having a plurality of carrier peptide segments and at least two different carbohydrate fragments each linked to a different one of the plurality of carrier peptide segments by site directed glycoconjugation and each containing at least n functional B-cell epitope. The carrier molecule imparts enhanced immunogenicity to the multiple carbohydrate fragments. The carbohydrate fragments are preferably from Streptococcus pneumoniae or Neisseria meningtidis. Also described is a method forming a multivalent immunogenic molecule and an immunogenic composition comprising either a multiple pneumococcal glycoconjugate, multiple meningococcal glycoconjugate and a immunogenic synthetic PRP-peptide conjugate. The composition can be used for the protection against meningitis.
