PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact automatic tensioner where vibration of a turning member is sufficiently suppressed. SOLUTION: A flat spring 22 where one locking part 22c is locked to a fixed member 2 and the other locking part 22d is locked to a turning member 3 is interposed between the outside of a spiral part of a torsion coil spring 5 and the inside of a cup part 13 of the turning member 3. A plastic-made frictional sliding member 21 having restricted relative turning with the fixed member 2 is disposed between the outside of the flat spring 22 and the inside of the cup part 13. When the turning member 3 turns against a belt energizing force, a clearance between the locking parts 22c and 22d of the flat spring 22 is expanded. Therefore, the frictional sliding member 21 is pressed by the flat spring 22 and frictionally slides with the cup part 13 of the turning member 3. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
