PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely utilize a portable information terminal 1 containing confidential files of a company or the like and to prevent the deciphering even when a third person illegally obtains the file. SOLUTION: A monitoring folder 31 is set to the portable information terminal 1, the monitoring folder 31 is periodically monitored in a cipher engine program 26 and the file is ciphered. A password 30 is set separately from an individual pass phrase 29 used for a ciphering processing and a deciphering processing and the file is deciphered when authentication is performed by the password 30. At the time of deciphering the file in a computer terminal, the authentication is performed by the password 30 read from the portable information terminal 1 and deciphering is performed by the individual pass phrase 31 read from the portable information terminal 1 further.
