PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shape measuring device for a high-temperature object capable of making the device small-sized. SOLUTION: The shape measuring device 1 for high-temperature object is equipped with an optical mirror 2, optical wave range finder 3, measuring instrument drive device 5, and a mirror driving mechanism 6. The optical wave range finder 3 projects a laser beam 4 to the optical mirror 2 and receives the beam 4 which has returned upon being reflected by the mirror 2, a hot metal gutter 7 as the object for measurement, and again the mirror 2, and thereby determines the distance from the object 7 via the mirror 2 on the basis of the projection- reception time difference or phase difference of the laser beam 4. The measuring instrument drive device 5 moves this shape measuring device 1 for high- temperature object in the longitudinal direction of the hot metal gutter 7.
