PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe refrigerator with the simple constitution eliminating the possibility of firing by preventing a leakage refrigerant from accumulating in a machine room even during stoppage of a compressor by control of an air cooling fan arranged in the machine room in a refrigerating cycle using the combustible HC refrigerant. SOLUTION: This refrigerator has a refrigerating cycle composed of the compressor, a condenser, an orifice device, and a cooler using the combustible refrigerant, and the machine room formed under a heat insulating box body, and provided with the compressor, a refrigerating cycle pipe, and the air cooling fan for cooling these, and is characterized in that the air cooling fan is driven when operating the compressor, and is driven (S14) until refrigerating cycle high pressure side and low pressure side pressures balance (S14) after stopping the compressor (S11).
