PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide higher combustion treatment effects with a treated object by using a burner for directly heating a fire and heat resistant material layer on the inner wall of a rotary furnace to prevent the fly of the unburnt object. SOLUTION: A combustion burner 49 is mounted in the rotary furnace 42 of a rotary combustion apparatus 41 for combustion treatment of the treated object and the combustion burner 49 is provided so that flames 49a of the burner directly heats the fire and heat resistant material layer 54 on the inner wall of the rotary furnace 42, thus preventing the blow-off of the object being directly subjected to hot gas with the flames. The flame burner directly heats the inner wall of the rotary furnace, whereby a temperature in the rotary furnace 42 easily reaches and holds a temperature atmosphere of 400-600°C high enough for ignition and combustion of carbide. Thus, heating treatment is given to the object introduced into the rotary combustion apparatus 41 to obtain ashen products, one-layer carbide and activated carbon by activation.
