<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display which can effectively prevent a defect in display such as a decrease in contrast by suppressing a defect in alignment of liquid crystal. <P>SOLUTION: On the top surface of an electrode substrate 20 (the top surface of an electrode layer 12 and a spacer 21), an alignment layer (not illustrated) is provided and the surface of the alignment layer is rubbed to perform alignment processing for the top surface of the alignment layer. At a portion of the flank 21c of the spacer which is positioned on a rear side in the rubbing direction of the electrode substrate 20, a slanting surface 21d is formed which slants spreading outwardly from the top surface 21a to the bottom surface 21b while covering an unrubbed shadow area. This slanting surface 21d extends in the rubbing direction by a specified horizontal distance L corresponding to conditions of the rubbing and securely comes into contact with rubbing cloth at the part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
