PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a windmill having a wing which varies the wing passage area of the wind corresponding to the wind velocity, and keeps the maximum output of the windmill in a range of avoiding occurrence of any fatigue fracture thereof by freely varrying the effective span of the wing to vary the wing passage area of the wind corresponding to the wind velocity. SOLUTION: The windmill has a wing span variable device for varying the wing span in an overall span of the wing or a predetermined length from a middle part to a wing end part, and also for varying the outside diameter of the wing end part by driving the wing, and the wing passage area of the wind is variable by changing the position of the radial direction of a rotor of the wing by the wing span variable device.
