PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance maintainability of a computer system by providing a computer system of which the OS (operating system) can be automatically replaced and simultaneously providing a method for automatically replacing the OS by using the computer system. SOLUTION: The computer system is provided with an external storage device, a main memory, and a watchdog timer, the watchdog timer is started by a boot loader stored in the main memory when a first OS file is updated. When the first OS is not normally started, the watchdog timer is counted up, the computer system is restarted and the boot loader starts a second OS in the external storage device.
