PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal type continuously variable transmission which downsizes an oil pump without a thermal problem or a drive loss problem by preventing undesired excessive lubricating oil from being suppied. SOLUTION: The toroidal type continuously variable transmission comprises a power roller lubricating oil passage 5 for lubricating a bearing part of a power roller 3 via a trunnion 4, and a rolling surface lubricating oil passage 6 for lubricating rolling surfaces 1a and 2b of an input disk 1 and an output disk 2 via a post base 7. The rolling surface lubricating oil passage 6 has two systems of a lubricating oil passage 6a on the input disk side and a lubricating oil passage 6b on the output disk side for independently supplying lubricating oil to the input disk 1 side and the output disk 2 side. The rolling surface lubricating oil passage 6 having two systems is provided with a solenoid spool valve 8 for adjusting a lubricating oil amount to the rolling surface 1a of the input disk 1 and a lubricating oil amount to the rolling surface 2a of the output disk 2 in response to a power roller tilting angle.
