PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide developing unit used for a contact developing system using non-magnetic one-component developer, good in the electrifying property of toner to a positive polarity by triboelectrification, equipped with a layer thickness regulating member having excellent wear resistance and restraining the adhesion of the developer, and made excellent in durability. SOLUTION: The developing unit is equipped with a developing roller feeding the non-magnetic one-component developer to the surface of a photoreceptor on which an electrostatic latent image is formed and performing contact development, and the layer thickness regulating member pressing the developer carried and fed on the surface of the developing roller and electrifying it to be positive, and also forming a thin layer. In the developing unit, the layer thickness regulating member has constitution that a metallic elastic body is set as a base plate, and one long side of the base plate is fixed on a unit frame body and a pressing part to which fluororubber is stuck is provided on the side of the other free side opposed to the one side so as to press the developer.
