The flexible buffer may be removably fastened to a car door made of steel by a thin flexible magnetic layer (Magnetfolie). This may be made of rubber filled with small particles of magnetic material. A layer of glue (Veklebung) fastens a thick layer of foam or sponge material (Schaumstoff) to the magnetic layer.
