摘要 Magnetostrictive path measurement method for determining the position of a magnet (14) moved relative to a wave guide (12). An excitation pulse is transmitted along the wave guide until it reaches the magnet, which then generates a torsion wave (T) in response. The travel times of excitation and response pulses are used to determine magnet position. A multiplicity of excitation pulse correction values and magnet positions are determined and used to create a table that is then used to vary the duration of the next excitation pulse. An Independent claim is made for a magnetostrictive path measurement system.
