METHOD FOR CARRYING OUT ENZYMATIC REACTIONS IN IONIC SOLVENTS

When carrying out enzymatic reactions in ionic solvents with the aid of compressed gases, particularly CO2, the products are extracted from the ionic solvents and from the enzymes in a manner that is environmentally friendly and does not alter enzymes. In addition, an appropriate choice of extraction conditions enables a separation of the product and educt or of the by-products thus leading to an effective enantiomer separation, for example, during kinetic racemate splitting with lipases. Solvents, extraction gases and enzymes can be reused.
