A sensor (3) measures the pressure in a compressed air reservoir (1) and cuts in the compressor (2) when the pressure falls below a threshold value. The sensor is also connected to the timer (8) for the water drainage valve (6), so that it is open for a short time after the compressor is switched on. There are drainage lines (9,10) from the bottom of the reservoir and a water separation valve (4) in the air supply line (17). Air leaves the reservoir and passes through this line to the pressure sensor, the water separator and a filter (5) followed by the connection to the user (14). The drained condensate (13) is collected in a tank (12).
