Circuit arrangement for operating stepper motors, activates fast-decay phase between end of on phase and end of defined time interval, and activates slow decay phase in second defined interval

The arrangement is able to operate at least one motor coil in on, slow-decay and fast-decay phases and has an arrangement of logic switching elements for driving the coil (L1) in a mixed-decay mode. A fast-decay phase is activated between the end of an on phase and the end of a defined time interval and a slow decay phase is activated in a second defined time interval. An independent claim is also included for the following: a stepper motor drive circuit, especially for micro-step operation, with an inventive arrangement.
