<p>High-resolution image data is acquired positively in a short reading time and with a good S/N ratio. A CCD (102) comprises a plurality of rows of line sensors that are arranged in a relatively-moving direction and include detection elements having a time integration effect and arranged in a direction perpendicular to a relatively-moving direction permitting moving relative to an original document. A signal processing unit (107) detects pixel components based on a model for separating, into a plurality of pixel components corresponding to the detection positions of an object to be detected, a first pixel value acquired by the CCD (102) within a processing unit time, and generates a second pixel value corresponding to the detection position of the object to be detected based on detected pixel components.
