Measuring engraved area on printing cylinder in engraver

The method for measuring a portion of an engraved area on a cylinder involves generating at least one dimension value corresponding to the portion, and displaying the portion and resulting valve on a monitor. The portion of the engraved area is videoed and an image is generated. An error value E corresponding to the difference between a set of predetermined set-up parameters and the actual measurement of the portion of the engraved cylinder (10) is then determined. The error value is then used to adjust the engraver to engrave an actual cut or etch in accordance with the parameters.
