The retaining device for pipe plug-in connections of pipe sections (1,2) consist of two radially symmetrical clamps (3,4) and at least two claw-type clamping elements (5,6). The clamps form the holding faces (16) of the pipe sections upon which act the claw-type clamping elements. The radially symmetrical clamps consist of a flexible radially symmetrical clamping band (7) and a first clamping element (8). The shorter side of the respective clamping band has an approximate U-shaped cross section.
