The following proteins (a) and (b) and genes encoding the proteins (a) and (b) respectively. (a) A protein comprising the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:2 or 4. (b) A protein comprising an amino acid sequence derived from an amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:2 or 4 by substitution, deletion, insertion and/or addition of one or more amino acids and being capable of activating p38 MAP kinase.
