OPTICAL PICKUP

An optical pickup comprising an optical fiber module 20, an optical head having at least an objective, and an optical sensor. The optical fiber module 20 includes an optical fiber 10 and a semiconductor laser 1. The optical fiber 10 is composed of a first optical fiber 11 which is a field distribution conversion fiber and a second optical fiber 12 having a birefringent core and connected at one end to one end of the first optical fiber 11. The laser beam L emitted from the semiconductor laser 1 enters the other end of the first optical fiber 11. The optical fiber 10 is used as an optical wiring for directing the laser beam L to the optical head. The size of the optical pickup is reduced, and the light from the light source can be utilized with high efficiency.
