<p>An electrically actuated clutch assembly (10) for a compressor in an automotive air conditioner is described in which clutch engagement to and disengagement with the compressor are momentary events wherein the stationary coil (18) and the latch plate solenoids (22) are activated to cause the locking solenoid pins (24) to engage and disengage the intermediate latch plate assembly (28) to the compressor hub plate (12) such that no electrical current is required to maintain the on and off states of the clutch.</p> |
