A multi-chain protein can be produced in a subject by intramuscular injectio n of one or more vectors that code for the chains of the protein and, optionally, by applying one or more electrical pulses across the injection site. A preferred multi-chain protein is an immunoglobulin. This approach to antibody production has various applications, including for expressing multi - chain proteins in vivo for disease therapy and for eliciting an immune response to one or more foreign antigenic determinants of the expressed protein.
