METHOD FOR RECOGNIZING FINGERPRINT USING DUAL MODE MATCHING

PURPOSE: A method for recognizing a fingerprint using the dual mode matching is provided to normally extract minutiae in case that a quality of a fingerprint image is dropped by a characteristic change of hardware such as a fingerprint input sensor, and increase recognition by recognizing the fingerprint through the minutiae. CONSTITUTION: The fingerprint image information is inputted. The minutiae including the core point information, coordinate values of a core point, an ending point number of ridges, the coordinate values of each ending point, a branch number of the ridges, and the coordinate values of a branch point are extracted. The minutiae are registered to a database. The minutiae are extracted from the fingerprint image information for the fingerprint recognition by the same way(42). A partial image template centered on one minutia from the extracted minutiae is fixed/matched with each partial image template of the previously registered fingerprint image(52). A fingerprint recognition result is output(56).
