A method for setting the operating values of a hot water heater (1) with a remote control (2), where the control device of the remote control sends an adjustment signal to the controller of the hot water heater, which sets a new value based on the received signal and transmits the newly set value back to the remote control. The latter displays the newly set value on its display (4). An Independent claim is made for an arrangement of hot water heater and remote control that has increased operation safety.
