PURPOSE: A multimedia multiplex transmission system is provided to provide a terminal which can use a transmission medium as an optical fiber cable, have a generalization and compatibility to perform data transmission at a high rate, and transmit multiplexed digital moving picture and data. CONSTITUTION: One data processor(100) includes a high speed serial communication signal processor(101) which can process data to be processed through a high speed serial communication bus. Another data processor(110) includes a signal processor(111) which performs the same operation as the high speed communication serial processor(101). Optical signal transmitting/receiving units(120,130) respectively include units(121,131) for processing data received through high speed serial communication-dedicated cables(140,150), photo/electric converters for converting an electric signal into an optical signal so as to be transmitted through an optical fiber cable(160), and electric/photo converters(122,132) for reversely converting the optical signal received through the optical fiber cable(160) into an electric signal.
